Professor, Term Tenure Track

The Department of Symptom Research at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is recruiting for a full Professor, Term Tenure Track appointment. Scientific contributions must impact the implementation and development of patient reported outcomes of cancer and its treatment.

The candidate should have good leadership qualities to supervise evidence?based approaches to the  development of patient reported outcomes in clinical practice at MD Anderson and leveraging these to evidence a proven benefit to clinical outcomes with a focus on research and implementation of research on patient reported outcomes and participation in clinical trials. 

The candidate should actively engage in and encourage translational and clinical research and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the department. This requires the ability to synthesize a myriad of details pertaining to the multiple areas of clinical practice and research activity. She/he should have a good publishing history, and should be able to demonstrate the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams that include research and clinical staff.

The candidate should seek appropriate funding mechanisms to support the research activities which will require to communicate effectively with funding agencies, advocacy groups, foundations, policy leaders, and other stakeholder groups.

The candidate should be able to maintain visibility by presenting results of studies in national and international professional and scholarly societies and meetings. The candidate would also have to supervise continuing professional education for the staff of the research group.

The ideal candidate must have five years as Associate Professor or equivalent and experience in implementation and/or development of patient reported outcomes and/or involvement in clinical trials, with a Ph.D. in psychology, public health or other appropriate fields of science.
